ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born and raised in Southern California in the foothills outside Riverside, he developed an early connection to the outdoors. His grandfather, a Utah landscape and wildlife painter, introduced him to art and provided early training in drawing outdoor subjects and Native American portraits. After high school art instruction and additional study with a professional artist, he was encouraged to pursue art as a career.
At 18, he produced his first limited edition lithograph and began marketing his work. After a brief period of service work in Puerto Rico, he returned to pursue commercial sculpture and commissioned painting. At 24, he worked as a metal chaser and point-up artist at a fine art bronze foundry near Salt Lake City, which led to the development of his own bronze portfolio and early recognition in regional shows.
Early commissions included recreating the C.A.M.I.E. Movie Award trophy for recipients such as Disney Productions and Ann Hathaway. Notable works include The Ambassador, a four-and-a-half-foot grizzly bear inspired by Bart the Bear, and Freedom to Soar, an eleven-foot public sculpture installed in Irving.
His bronze sculptures are known for realist detail combined with varied textures that guide the viewer through each form. Primary subject matter includes North American wildlife and Old West themes, inspired by a respect for the natural world and traditional values of character, bravery, and responsibility.
Works often emphasize dignity, strength, and resilience, whether depicting wildlife or figurative subjects such as Quiet Victories and Undisputed. Each sculpture reflects personal meaning, memory, or admiration, with an intentional emphasis on the artist’s hand remaining visible in the finished work.
He has worked in bronze since 1999, exhibiting nationally and being featured in publications such as Wildlife Art Magazine and Southwest Art Magazine. His work is represented by galleries including Mountain Trails Gallery in Park City and has been commissioned by Bass Pro Shops, Joe Gibbs Racing, municipalities, and private collectors across the United States.
